RE: NEED JOB IN FLA.

You could try what DW did a few years ago. Check your favorite campground directory and start cold calling the places you'd like to stay. Jan and Feb are peak months down here so somebody may need extra short term help. Good luck.

RE: C drive is full

Before jumping through a lot of hoops, you might want to check what's using up the most space on your C drive. Personally, I like Tree Size.
Maybe you have a ton of temp files that can be safely deleted.

RE: Tank Flushing

I've heard of quite a few leaks with the San-T-Flush system. On ours, the in line connectors weren't tightened properly. Others had the check valve installed backwards. Your gray valves should be closed when flushing black. Our manual said to leave the black valve open when using the flush. I think that was for liability purposes. I leave the black valve closed for 8-9 minutes (after the initial dump) to let the black tank refill before opening the valve. Your mileage may vary depending on water flow/pressure. Do NOT get distracted while doing this. I've also heard of folks who overfilled and had STUFF come out the vent pipe on the roof.
Does Alfa have an owners group that might be able to help you?

RE: carrying 2-14ft kayaks

We have a Big Horn 5th wheel and two 12 foot kayaks. We had a front receiver installed and purchased a T-bar from the same company that installed the receiver. We have one Yakama bar on the truck and then put the fronts of the kayaks on the t-bar. Works just fine. We are full timing and have been traveling this way for about two years.
how is your view when you come to stoplights?
On extremely rare occasions, DW has to tell me when the light changes. Other than that I have to tilt my head sometimes. Usually not a problem.

RE: My 2007 5er is not ready for the digital T.V signal

Hi all
I have a 2007 Select suite from Double Tree r.v. My t.v stations held a test of the digital signal transition. My rig did not pass-I am not digital ready. I have a Sanyo in the main room and a RCA in the bedroom. They are both not digital ready. I have been told it is NOT the antenna it is the T.V. If this is true I think I will upgrade to NEW LCD T.V. Why is it that I am upgrading a 2007 RIG ?????????
I also have a fairly new Sanyo (don't have the model number at my fingertips right now). Check the back of the set. Mine has one coax input for analog and one for digital. You might just need to switch your cable to the proper connector.

RE: advice/tips wanted for towing 35' 5th wheel

The RV islands at Flying J have not been a problem for our long bed Dodge and 38' 5er. Finding a place to park at some so we can go in and have a "sit down" meal has gotten pretty interesting at times. Some, the RV parking spots were all full, others the RV spots were fairly small.
On our most recent trip, there was an accident at the intersection where we needed to turn. Had to pass that, then drive through a mini plaza to get back to our road. This would not have been a problem except for the carpet cleaning truck taking up half the lane where I wanted to swing wide to get out. Slow and steady, keeping an eye on all mirrors worked.

RE: Walmart Connect?

Thanks for all the info folks! I will persuade him to just put a stop payment on the account. Not really the way I like doing things but it looks like it may be the only option. Thanks again!
Agree that's the best way for now. As soon as they don't get their money, they'll be calling - no more problem ;)

RE: San-T-Flush black tank flush system

We have the San-T-Flush, and also use the clear elbow to monitor what's coming out. Just to cut down on the amount of water used to flush, we also use chemicals about once a month.

RE: Extended stay in Moble Home Park

This is probably further north than you want to be, but Whispering Palms in Sebastian FL has many RV sites and mixed use sites (we're sitting on one of the mixed use sites now). Utility connections for RVs are the same as they would be in a campground. At this park, the RVers and MHers participate in all activities. Helps if you speak French, lots of French Canadians during the winter.

RE: low water pressure! guess what it was!!!

I've frequently had folks complain about low water pressure at parks I've worked at. Without exception, replacing their whole house filter has improved the situation.
We always use a filter for all incoming water (at DW's insistence).

RE: Email mail service?

You could try these folks. We only use the regular mail forwarding service, so can't vouch for the mail scanning. However, they've done a great job of forwarding in the 2.5 yrs we've been using it.

RE: Wifi signal booster

You could try one of these from Hawking. I think my built-in wireless is pretty good but attaching this dish will pick up signals that weren't previously visible, or turn weak signals into strong ones. Mine stays inside when used. YMMV

RE: New Forum

The Workamper News forum has such a category. It's very helpful but the entire forum is highly censored. Guess they're afraid of an employer or some mother's group suing them.Actually the Workamper News had just such a section, which allowed the members to rate their employers and their workamping experience, but no more. The employers complained and threatened to stop advertising for help with them, because most workampers told it like it was. Now you can only rate the employer in a positive light, with a gold star, no negative reports allowed.
I visit the Workamper News forum frequently and see many warnings about specific employers, with details. I believe this is a different area than the employer ratings but negative information is out there.

Fuel price on I-90 in NY

For those of you traveling thru the Empire State, I just wanted to let you know of a source for (comparatively)inexpensive gas and diesel. On I-90, take exit 33 and follow the signs to the right for Vernon. Less than a mile down the road is a Sav On station, gas on the right side of the road and diesel on the left. Fill up for diesel yesterday was 4.69 - credit. The station is apparently owned by the Oneida indians and they don't collect state taxes. Most other stations around here are charging 4.91 - 5.05 for diesel.

Check out Pricewatch I've ordered from vendors associated with them several times with no problems. Check the websites first to make sure that YOU are comfortable with them.

RE: fuel plaza preference?

We prefer Flying J. Separate fuel island for RVs and free discount card. Plus, the buffet is usually pretty good. We normally boondock there also while traveling between jobs.

RE: Internet Service Provider: Recommendations Please

I had earthlink for a number of years, then realized after we hit the road that we were still paying for dialup service from them without ever using it. Some places we had free wi-fi, others we paid, but we always had the earthlink bill. After some research, we just bought our own domain name and set up email and website through a web hosting service. Was it painful changing all the email contacts? You bet. But this should be the only time we ever have to do it again. If we get tired of our new webhost, we'll just transfer the domain to a new host.
